Catfight Over Project Runway

In November, Project Runway will begin it’s sixth season. However, this year, we will be watching on a new network. Project Runway will be strutting it’s stuff on the Lifetime Network. This is a major achievement for the network that was designed with women in mind. However, the execs at the Bravo network are not happy.

Project Runway producers announced on Monday, that they were making the move, to the chagrin of Bravo execs. The Bravo network has reportedly filed a lawsuit against The Weinstein Company, which is the shows production company. Bravo sites that they had first rights to match any offer made to the show, but the Weinstein brothers still made the choice to make the move.

Though the fifth season of the show will still air on Bravo this summer, they will now have to rely on shows such as Top Chef and Make Me A Supermodel to keep them moving. The only problem is that these shows don’t have the momentum that Project Runway has.

So, in the coming months, we’ll have to keep an eye on this story. There could be a catfight on the Project Runway.

The Upcoming NBC 2008-2009 Line-Up

It seems that NBC has a whole line of new shows coming up for their 2008-2009 season. According to Variety, the industries leading news source, NBC is looking at getting off the beaten path. They are looking to add a few new ideas, mixed with a few from days gone by.

A few of the dramas they’re looking to air, is a remake of the 80’s classic Knight Rider, starring Justin Bruening. In February, NBC aired a Knight Rider movie. According to the Nielson ratings, it was viewed by more than 12.5 million people and is a strong contender for the upcoming season.

Two other shows on the bill is a show titled Kings, which pits a modern day David and Goliath against each other. This show will star Christopher Egan (Vanished, Egagon) and Ian McShane (The Golden Compass, Deadwood). The other is called Crusoe, and is based on the Daniel DeFoe novel.

One show I am personally looking forward to is called Merlin. It’s the story of the legendary wizard set with a 21st century twist. Another one I’m looking forward to is called “My Own Worst Enemy” which will be bringing Christian Slater to the small screen. Will he make it as big as some of his contemporaries?

In the comedy line-up, shows such as The Office and Saturday Night Live will be bringing out spin offs. The SNL version will be a Thursday night version of “Weekend Update”, and will be focusing on the upcoming election.

In the reality TV department, they’ve come up with three new ideas. First of all, we have Chopping Block, which will have couples competing in restaurant type scenarios. The second show idea is called America’s Toughest Jobs. The premise to this show is to take people from their cushy little jobs and put them into some of the hardest jobs in the country. And finally we have a show called Shark Taggers. This is a show about Marine Biologists and the world of marine predators.

Of course, the new season is still a few months away, and there is a chance that a few of these won’t make it to the end. However, it is nice to see someone trying to come up with some fresh ideas, and give a few old ideas a new twist.

Will Britney Become a TV Star?

On March 24th, Britney Spears made an appearance on the television show, “How I Met Your Mother”.  Reports say she got good reviews for her role and that there is a chance she may be asked to do another guest appearance.  The show’s Executive Producer says he’s very proud of that episode and could see no reason not to have her return.

So, is this a new start for the troubled pop star?  Though there are no definate answers as of yet, there is a chance that she will return to the CBS show.  In the initial role, she played the part of a less-than-glamorous receptionist named Abbey, and from all accounts, she played the part quite well.

If Britney does decide to make the leap from pop sensation to tv star, she could end up turning her entire career, and possibly her life, completely around.
